We’ve all heard of or experienced the common cold. Colds are viral infections of the throat and nose that are easily spread by contact with germs.
What are the symptoms?
A sore throat, sneezing, a stuffed up nose, a runny nose, and congestion. If you also have a high fever (and this is especially true of children), you should seek medical attention. Fevers are more characteristic of the flu.
What are the treatments for cold symptoms?
Most people recover from the common cold within a few weeks.* Over-the-counter medicine can relieve your symptoms.* If you do experience a high fever, or if your cold persists beyond a two week period, we recommend a doctor’s visit.*
* Individual results may vary.
